The Butterfly Series witnesses the joyful, painful, and chaotic similarities of our lives to the transformation of the butterfly.

These paintings began as a commission to paint a wedding present that a newly married coupled wanted to give to each other in celebration of second chances and new beginnings. Somewhere in the work they had asked that I include a butterfly.

After researching the stages of life that a butterfly follows, I knew that I had to paint the entire transformation from the varied eggs to the bold caterpillar to the prison like chrysalis and finally to the freedom of flight.

A butterfly's physical life experience is a story that everyone loves because everyone has lived it. We live it continually.
